With the new facelift, will the Ford Figo come back stronger against the segment-leading Maruti Swift? Let's see how Ford Figo 2019 pits against the Maruti Swift in our Ford Figo vs Maruti Swift review here

The pre-facelift Figo even though being among Ford's most popular models, it still falls behind other contestants in the same space, which has led Ford to take one step further with the 2019 updates.

New Ford Figo 2019 was launched recently at the price from 5.15 lakh to 8.09 lakh. The Ford Figo 2019 comes into three variants, namely Ambiente, Titanium and BLU. Its biggest rival now remains to be the Maruti Swift and Hyundai i10. Now we have put the Ford Figo and segment-leading Maruti Swift into the same slot and weigh each hatchback from different aspects. Ford Figo vs Maruti Swift, which one could be the winner?

2. Ford Figo vs Maruti Swift Design

Exterior Design

Ford Figo 2019 came with a slew of exterior changes. One of the most welcomed updates is the addition of the dual-tone car paints. The front bumper now gets the dual tone application while the honeycomb patterns are added to the front fascia in place of the pre-facelift slatted grille. The bumper, with newly-adopted C-shaped chrome line around the fog light housing at the two ends of the bumper, gives the design a bit of sportiness. To the rear side, the Ford Figo is now represented with a redesigned bumper.

With some minor changes, New Ford Figo 2019 looks fresh now

Maruti Swift’s style is iconic. You can hardly miss a Swift when seeing it on the street. The latest upgrade on the Swift gave it some minor twists. Just like the Figo, the new Swift also gets a wrap-around fog light housing. The grille on the Swift is horizontally-slatted. And the Swift also takes it minimal on the chrome application at the front face, which is quite a different approach from the Figo. Also, the Swift is the first to get LED projector in the segment.

Interior design

Compared with the pre-facelift version, the new 2019 Figo has gone a long way with its interior design. New dashboard now looks uncluttered. Some premium touches like piano black finish are added on around the touchscreen, which is similar to what is featured on the Swift. Every detail inside the Figo is cleverly-put. Generally, it is a nice and well-designed cabin.

Here we come to the Maruti Swift. Just like the elegant exterior, the interior of the Swift looks fantastic and upmarket. It also makes use of the chrome finish and piano black treatment on the dashboard but what makes it different from the Figo is how they utilize these materials to set a different tone to the interior. If the Ford Figo looks smart and mature, the style of the Swift feels more youthful and upmarket.

3. Ford Figo vs Maruti Swift Features

Safety

New Ford Figo 2019 also gains a stack of new safety and comfort features as well as entertainment aids. Safety kit on the Figo includes rear parking sensor and dual airbags, ABS, all of which are available across the range. Especially, the Figo features the rear parking camera across the range while the others, including Swift, only have this feature on the top-spec variants. Coming to the high-end Blu, the Figo comes with bonus side and curtain airbags.

Maruti Suzuki Swift also shares the ABS and dual airbags as a standard safety feature. Even though the Swift doesn’t offer the rear parking sensor at the base variant, it has ISOFIX child seat mount that is not available on the Figo.

Entertainment

Touchscreens in both Figo and Swift are a special treat to the higher-spec customers only. They both are 7-inch, however, the Figo’s unit doesn’t come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The lack of connectivity functions on the Figo even with the 2019 version is a big put-off as the need for smartphone support is becoming the norms in the market. With only navigation and Bluetooth functions, Figo customers could get around with navigating and connecting phones with the audio system.

Comfort and convenience

In terms of comfort, Figo 2019 and Maruti Swift are all well-equipped. Both of them come with electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, push-button start, power steering, all four power windows, auto climate control, adjustable front and rear headrest and manual day/night IRVM. The Swift edges out with auto headlamps and LED projector headlamps but it misses the rain-sensing wiper offered on the Figo.
