2018 Skoda Superb Sportline Launched In India At Rs 28.99 lakh

The new Sportline trim of the Skoda Superb, the most important product of Skoda has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 28.99 lakh with some different features from the standard version.

In terms of the exterior, the new features of the Sportline trim include

  • Blacked-out grill in the front

  • Front bi-xenon headlamps

  • Black-out elements on the headlamps and fog lamps

  • ORVMs

  • A black ending part on the roof

  • Grey-and-black finish on the novel dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels

All of these features contribute to the sporty appearance of the vehicle.

As regards the interior, the new car features a cabin with an all-black colour and contrasting red strips and brand-new sporty leather seats (the adjustable power front seats equipped with a memory function) with Alcantara inserts. Some other prominent features consist of

  • Aluminium pedals

  • LED ambient lighting

  • Three-spoke silver-stitched driving wheel

  • A new dashboard with some carbon-fibre trimming and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink connectivity

  • Standard automatic climate control with three zones

The vehicle will leave the customers with no worry about safety as it is equipped with a wide range of safety features such as 6 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System with electronic brakeforce limitation, electronic braking system, traction control, parking sensors in the front and rear and a rear-view camera.

The Sportline has similar mechanical specifications with the other Superb cars except for the fact that it is only available with an automatic gearbox. It is powered by the 1.8-litre turbo-petrol motor with four cylinders, which can deliver 180hp of max power and 250Nm of peak torque. The power is sent to the four wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Another option of the engine is the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, which can generate 77hp and 350Nm, mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. The mileage is 14.81kpl and 18.66kpl for the petrol and diesel variant, respectively.

The Skoda Superb is priced in the range of Rs 25.59 - 32.99 lakh. With this competitive price, it is expected to effectively compete against Volkswagen Passat (Rs 29.99-32.99 lakh), Toyota Camry Hybrid (Rs 37.22 lakh) and Honda Accord Hybrid (Rs 43.21 lakh). The offers of both petrol and diesel motor options are also another advantage of Skoda Superb over its rivals. The two Japan-manufactured vehicles are offered with only petrol-hybrids; the German one comes with only a diesel motor. The novel mid-spec sportline trim is expected to help the Czech automaker boost their sales in the upcoming festive season.
