2020 Honda City Outsells Ciaz And Verna In August 2020

Last month, Honda City outsold its direct rivals Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. However, this happened while Japanese carmaker is selling two generations of the Honda City in the Indian market.

Honda has recently introduced the new-gen City in India. The C2-sedan is quite popular among the buyers in our market. It rival with the likes of Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. According to a recent report, the new-gen Honda City was the best-selling car in its segment in August 2020. The report suggests that the automaker retailed 1,975 units of the sedan, while its direct competitor Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz registered a sales of  1,906 units and 1,303 units, respectively. This clearly shows that the 2020 Honda City has outsold Hyundai Verna by 69 units and Maruti Ciaz by 672 units.

Out of total 1,975 units sold by the carmaker in our market last month, it also includes the previous-gen model of the car. The fourth-gen Honda City is retailed in the Indian market along with the new 2020 model with massive discounts. The previous-gen model of the C2-sedan is offered with maximum discounts and benefits up to Rs 1.68 lakh. And this could also be the reason why more people are buying the Honda City.

The new-gen model of the car is powered by 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former puts out 119bhp of peak power and 145 Nm of twisting force, while the latter develops 98bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The petrol motor can be had paired to either a 6-speed MT or a CVT, while the diesel unit comes mated to a 6-speed MT only.

The new-gen Honda City is priced between Rs 10.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 14.64 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The price of the fourth-gen model starts from Rs 9.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes all the way up to Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). . Inside, the new-gen Honda City comes loaded with features like Amazon Alexa remote caoability support, an electric sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control and much more.
