Bookings for the new 2020 Hyundai i20 have 'unofficially' commenced at Hyundai authorized dealers. It must be noted that the upcoming model has been in news for a while now and on contacting our friendly Hyundai dealership, we were told that the interested can pre-order the upcoming model by paying a nominal amount ahead of the new model's launch around Diwali.
The new Hyundai i20 will feature Hyundai’s radical ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design philosophy, thanks to which, the hatchback will have a more premium and contemporary appearance than the outgoing model. The front end will be redesigned with a wide cascading grille, thick and heavy headlights, LED DRLs, more outstanding fog lights and a sculpted bonnet. Sharp creases and edges all around the body along with the black wing mirrors, shark fin antenna and strong belt line will help improve its side profile. In the rear, a tailgate will be available with black treatment; a light strip will connect the wrap-around taillights.
The new Hyundai i20 will come with more modern styling than the previous model.
In comparison with the outgoing model, the new Hyundai i20 will be better-equipped. One of the most outstanding features of the hatchback will be the wider 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Like Hyundai’s modern cars, the new i20 will come with Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, 8-speaker Bose sound system, digital instrument console, air purifier with virus protection and wireless charger might also be available.
The Hyundai i20 will be better-equipped than the old model.
As regards its powertrain options, the new i20 is expected to receive its power from a 1.2-litre gasoline, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. While the manual transmission will be offered as standard across all the variants, a DCT unit will be exclusively offered on the turbo-petrol. The i20 turbo petrol is also reported to be available with the iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission).
The new-gen Hyundai i20 is anticipated to be priced from INR 5.8 lakh to INR 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched in India, the new hatchback will compete against the Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz and Maruti Baleno.
