Here are the leaked images of the next-gen MG MG5 sedan, which will go on sale in the international market by the end of this year.

MG is known for selling a range of SUVs in the country. The Chinese-owned British brand, however, sells sedan and hatchbacks as well in the international markets, which Indian audience is kept away from. One of which is the MG5 sedan, which competes against the likes of Hyundai Elantra and Honda Civic in the markets it is sold in. It is now due for a generation change. However, the pictures of the new-gen MG5 sedan have been leaked by a Chinese publication, PCauto. The leaked images show that the next-gen model will feature noticeable changes in terms of its overall styling. While the outgoing model features a boxy silhouette with straight lines, the new-gen model is full of curves.

Also, the beltline is a little higher now, which gives the overall design a sportier appeal. The design of the alloy wheels isn’t plain either. There will be 2 different options to choose from. On the rear, the bangle butt design for the rear facet is quite appealing. It gets wraparound and tail lamps. Also, the rear bumper gets twin exhaust ports. Overall this design is a complete step-up from the current model. Sadly, the interior of the next-gen MG5 remains un-disclosed.

Talking of the powertrain, MG5 is likely to go on sale with a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged direct-injection gasoline engine. It will be offered in two states of tune. In the lower state of tune, the motor will develop a peak power output of 120 PS whereas, in the higher state of tune, it will put out 173 PS of peak power. If rumours are to go by, this engine comes from Chevrolet Malibu. If MG is planning to launch the MG5 in the country, it still is not known. However, it will be great to see a new entrant in the D-segment sedan space.
