2021 MG ZS EV Launched in India - Offers More Range & Higher Ground Clearance

MG Motors has finally launched the new 2021 ZS EV in the Indian market. The 2021 model of the electric SUV is offered in two different trim levels namely - Excite and Exclusive. The former is offered at a starting price of Rs 21 lakh, while the latter gets retailed at Rs 23.18 lakh. Talking about the upgrades, the 2021 ZS EV now gets a new battery, which offers an enhanced range. Also, it now boasts of higher ground clearance and updated iSmart system. The new model of the electric SUV gets an updated iSmart system, which first debuted on the MG Hector facelift.

The system is now compatible with Hinglish voice commands. The new tech allows the 2021 ZS EV to respond to over 35 Hinglish voice commands, which are used to perform various functions like opening the sunroof, temperature controls, turning on the radio and much more. The updated model of the electric SUV gets redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels, which are shod with 215/55 R17 tyres. The ground clearance of the car has been increased by 16 mm. The improved ground clearance will surely enhance the overall ride quality of the electric SUV. Mechanically, the new MG ZS EV is powered by 44.5 kWh battery, which is coupled to an electric motor that is capable of shredding out 143 Bhp of peak power and 353 Nm of max torque. With the new battery in place, the 2021 MG ZS EV is claimed to offer a total range of 419 km.

The driving range of the ZS EV has been increased significantly as the previous model offered 340 km of driving range on one full charge. Also, it can do a sprint from 0 to100 kmph in just 8.5 seconds. The electric SUV can be charged up to 80 per cent in 50 minutes via a 50kW DC fast charger. Using a standard AC charger, however, increases the time to around 6-8 hours for one full charge. The ZS EV comes loaded with features like 3-level Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), reverse parking camera, multiple drive modes, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic parking brake, six airbags, hill descent control, brake assist and much more. With these significant updates on it side, the 2021 MG ZS EV rivals the Hyundai Kona in the Indian market.
