7 Units of MG Gloster Delivered in a Single Day in Cochin

MG retailed 7 units of the Gloster in Cochin in one day. The SUV derives power from a 2.0-litre turbocharged and twin-turbo diesel engine.

MG Gloster is the flagship car in the Chinese-owned British automaker’s stable. It was introduced in our market a few months back and is among the most feature-loaded vehicles in its segment. Since its launch, the SUV has become quite popular among the buyers around India. Last month, the carmaker announced that the Gloster has been sold out for 2020. Recently, the automaker has delivered several units of the SUV in Cochin in one day. To be precise, MG has retailed seven units of the car. It is India’s first-ever SUV to feature level 1 autonomous functionalities. In its segment, MG Gloster rivals with the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Alturas G4.

It comes loaded with features like LED headlamps, split LED taillights, 19-inch alloy wheels, front ventilated seats, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, i-Smart 2.0 connectivity suite, 8-inch TFT screen, three-zone climate control system, 64-colour ambient lighting, foot-activated electric tailgate, etc. The top-spec Savvy trim of the SUV features company’s advanced driver assistant system (ADAS), which includes features like Auto Park Assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning system, blind-spot detection and driver fatigue reminder system.

Mechanically, MG Gloster derives power from a 2.0-litre four-pot turbocharged and twin-turbo diesel engine. The former develops 161bhp of power and 375 Nm of peak torque, while the latter is capable of shredding out power and torque outputs of 215 Bhp and 480 Nm, respectively. Transmission duties are done by an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as standard. The turbocharged diesel engine is offered with the Super and Smart trims of the SUV, while the twin-turbo diesel mill does duties in the Sharp and Savvy variants. The SUV gets retailed at a starting price of Rs 29.98 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base Super trim and goes all the way up to Rs 35.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec Savvy variant.
