After 2018 Ertiga, Maruti Ertiga Cross will be launched with SUV-like presence

Maruti will launch Ertiga in six months after the release of the 2018 Ertiga. It will look more SUV-like rather than being a true MPV.

Maruti Suzuki will launch the new 2018 Ertiga this year. Six months after the release of the new Ertiga, the automaker has a plan on introducing new variants of the Ertiga which is suspected to be Ertiga Cross.

Based on the all-new Ertiga MPV, however, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross is much likely to be SUV-like as the same thing has been done to Maruti Suzuki Celerio and its sibling – Celerio X.

If 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga looks elegant and posh, the Ertiga Cross will look bold and aggressive. The front profile might look like the S Cross with the same front grille and swept-back headlights and large front bumper. To boost the road presence, the ground clearance will slightly higher.

Despite having a butch-looking appearance, the Ertiga Cross will not equally off-road, instead, it will mainly focus on on-road driving. The proof is that it will remain the same mechanical setting with the front-wheel drive system and as well as engine options of turbocharged diesel and petrol mill. The 1.5-litre K-Series petrol motor could make 104 PS and 138 Nm. The diesel engine is a 1.3-litre turbocharged unit with could offer 89 PS and 200 Nm. The 6-speed manual gearbox will come as standard for both engine option. Moreover, the petrol engine is expected to be paired with a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The interior will feature the all-black theme. In order to foster the convenience and comfort inside the cabin, it will offer SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, multifunction steering wheel, automatic climate control, auto power windows. Twin front airbags, ABS and EBD will be available as safety features.
