BYD, a Chinese EV manufacturer, has just introduced the Yuan EV in the Columbian market. The EV bears a strong resemblance to the Ford EcoSport.
One of the fastest-growing EV makers in the world BYD has partnered with several big brands in the world. The Chinese auto company is now expanding its business in newer car markets like Colombia. And, to do so BYD ha introduced the Yuan EV, which bears a strong resemblance to the Ford EcoSport in terms of its design.
The BYD Yuan borrows some of the design traits from the Ford EcoSport.
The delivery of the Yuan EV will commence from the second half of this year with just 132 units in the first batch. It will be retailed via a local distributor - Motorysa. Besides the Yuan, the Tang, which is a larger electric SUV, will also be introduced in Columbia. Commenting on the introduction of the Yuan, General Manager, BYD America Auto Sales Passenger Car Department, stated,
“We will leverage their local sales network to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, helping local governments to continue to facilitate zero-emission transportation.”
The EV will be equipped with a wide range of top-notch interior features.
BYD Yuan bears a strong resemblance to the Ford EcoSport; nevertheless, it is equipped with new styling components as well. In the front, the Yuan comes with a typical front grille, LED headlights and a redesigned C-pillar. Although, it misses out on the tail-gate mounted spare wheel that gives the EcoSport a tough-SUV appeal. The EV receives its power from a 53.22 kWh battery which can deliver a travel range of 410 km and 535 km at low speeds in a single charge. The electric motor can generate a maximum power of 160 BHP against a peak torque of 275 Nm. The BYD Yuan can accelerate from a standstill to 50 kmph in 3.9 seconds. The battery can be charged from 0% to 80% in 70 minutes with a fast charger.
