The India-bound Citroen C5 Aircross has just been rated 4 stars by Euro NCAP safety test. India launch is expected to happen in 2020.

It has been a good day for the France-based automotive corporation, PSA Groupe. The 2019 Citroen C5 Aircross has just achieved a 4-star rating in the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP). The Citroen C5 Aircross is the latest model in the French carmaker’s product lineup and will become the first car launched by PSA Group in India.

Euro NCAP Crash Test of Citroën C5 Aircross 2019

Euro NCAP’s test result shows that the all-new C5 Aircross provides good protection for both adult and child occupants with a total of 33.4 points out of 38 and 42.6 points out of 49, respectively. The SUV also obtains an adequate 58 per cent in the pedestrian protection and 75 per cent in the driver's safety assist parameter as well. Also, the watchdog uses “marginal”, “adequate” and “good” to describe the level of safety of the car for the head, chest and upper leg of the front passenger during the front full-width test while those impacts to the driver are well-secured.

Citroen C5 Aircross scored 33.4 per 38 points and 42.6 per 49 points in the adult and child occupant protection.

The C5 Aircross does not scale to the highest point of Euro NCAP crash tests albeit, you must know that its scoring system is intensely different from the Global NCAP testing. While the Euro programme takes account of four aspects including the safety of driver & passenger, child, vulnerable road users and drivers assists, the Global NCAP considers driver, passenger and child safety for the tests only. Therefore, with 4 stars from Euro NCAP, the India-bound Citroen C5 Aircross sounds highly likely to get maximum scores from Global NCAP when it comes to the driver, passenger and child safety parameters.

The Citroen C5 Aircross is anticipated to be launched in India by the dying days of 2020. On preparing for the new model launches in the Indian car market, PSA Group has started its long-term partnership with CK Birla Group for its vehicles manufactured in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu facility. The expected price of the Citroen C5 Aircross should stand close to Rs 30 Lakh which will be positioned to compete against the Volkswagen Tiguan in the country.
