Hyundai sold nearly 12,000 units of the Elite i20 in 2018, marking the best-selling Hyundai model in the Indian market.. The new Santro stood at the fourth position

Although having witnessed a slump in the sale figures in November 2018, the celebrated Hyundai Santro hatchback retained a stable sale indicator since its launch and achieved overall 7,197 sold units until now. The car has got more than 45,000 booking units already. Coming as the first Hyundai car with an AMT gearbox, the Santro requires a long waiting period due to the company’s production limitation. In specifically, the South Korean carmaker announced to manufacture under 10,000 units each month that is not able to satisfy the increasing demand of the Indian gearheads.

The Hyundai Elite i20 is the “king of 2018” with more than 11,940 sold units all over the country. The premium hatchback surpassed the long-in-the-tooth Maruti Suzuki Baleno to maintain its first position in its segment. The Elite i20 facelift has scored 21 per cent of year-on-year growth and 13 per cent of month-on-month increase as compared to December 2017. It is genuinely a value-for-money vehicle available in the market with premium-looking aesthetics, unrivalled mastery of interior design, exceptionally dynamic performance and a seductive after-sales package to be attached. Sourcing the power from a BSVI compliant 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine mated to 5-speed MT or CVT option along with a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi Diesel motor coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission, enhancing the aerodynamics, handling and fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

The Grand i10 still preserves a particular position in the Indian auto space with 11,450 unit sales last month, marking 24 per cent of month-on-month growth rate. However, the sale performance of the Grand i10 has dropped by 17 per cent compared to that of 2017. The next-gen Grand i10 is under process to be launched this year that is highly expected to make a drastic change in the upcoming automotive context.

The year 2018 is also a successful year of Hyundai Creta with 7631 units sold in December 2018 that drives the premium compact crossover to the third best-selling Hyundai’s car in the Indian market. The heated competition in the last month pushed the Creta back by 21% as compared to November 2018, and the overall race is likely to be more dynamic with the arrival of new models in the coming days. Posting a positive growth rate throughout the years, the Hyundai Verna sits on the third place its segment while the Hyundai Xcent and Hyundai Elantra continue a gloomy sale performance in the market.
