First Prototype of MG eZS Rolls Out from Gujarat Plant

MG rolled out the first prototype of eZS, which is manufactured at the Halol plant, on 5 June 2019 to commemorate the world environment day.

Most of you may know that the Chinese carmaker MG is all set to launch the Hector SUV into the India market this month. The brand has also started rolling out the MG eZS from Halol plant in Gujarat. The electric SUV is expected to get launched in the fourth quarter of this year. MG has also released a new video on its official YouTube channel which shows the first MG eZS prototype being manufactured at the Halol plant on 5 June 2019 on world environment day. P Balendran, Executive Director, MG Motor India, had told IAB “That’s (MG eZS is) going to be a CBU programme,”

Local manufacturing of the MG eZS could have done if the demand is sufficient. Although, the plan has been changed to locally manufacture the SUV from the starting. On the other hand, Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India, announced yesterday, confirming the localisation plan The MG eZS, as one of the first locally produced global EVs, will mark a new chapter in environment-friendly mobility in India.” MG Motors will import the CKD kits of the model from China and assemble it in their Gujarat facility. In terms of dimensions, the MG eZS is 4,314 mm long, 1,809 mm wide and 1,620 mm/1,644 mm tall and it has a wheelbase of 2,585 mm. The EV will derive power from an electric motor which develops 110 kW (150 PS) of power and 350 Nm of twisting force.

The pollution free SUV is powered by a 44.5 kWh battery pack which offers an expected range of 335 km. The MG eZS can sprint from 0-50 in just 3.1 seconds. The SUV will consume 13.8 kWh of power to cover a distance of 100km. The Electric SUV will also employ a Next-Gen infotainment system, which will debut in India in the MG Hector this month. More features are expected to get revealed closer to launch by the end of this year. Being a CKD car, the MG eZS is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
