Ford Mustang Mach-E To Be Launched In India In Two Years

The first EV from Ford, the Ford Mustang Mach-E. is likely to be launched in India by 2021 as a CBU unit to become the competitor against the upcoming Jaguar I-Pace and the Audi e-tron.

The new electric vehicle from Ford, the Mustang Mach E, which is also the first EV from the American automaker for the Indian auto market is slated for launch in the country by 2021. Recently fully disclosed, the Mustang Mach-E will be imported to India as a CBU unit; therefore, it is sure to become one high-priced EV. Fortunately enough, it will derive the benefits from the lower GST rate for electrical vehicles.

In the international market, the Mach-E receives its power from either a 75 kWh battery which can deliver 258 HP or a 99 kWh battery which can generate 289 HP with the peak torque of both motors being 416 Nm. Both of the versions are equipped with an RWD. It is claimed by Ford that the car can reach 100 kmph from a standstill in just 8 seconds and have WLTP ranges of 459 km and 595 km, respectively.

It remains unknown which battery will be equipped in the India-spec Ford Mustang Mach-E.

The twin-motor AWD version of the Mach E is available with two batteries: a 75 kWh battery with 258 HP and a 99 kWh with 337 HP. Both of the versions have a 0 - 100 kmph acceleration time of under seven seconds and approximated ranges of 419 km and 540 km, respectively. Up to now, it remains unknown which battery will come to the Indian auto market.

When the Ford Mustang Mach-E is launched in India, two premium all-electric SUVs have already been on sale in India, the Audi e-tron (expected launch date: early 2020) and the Jaguar I-Pace (expected launch date: late 2020). Both of these are expected to become formidable competitors of the upcoming Ford EV.
