Haima 8S (Kia Seltos Rival) Showcased at Auto Expo 2020

Besides Great Wall Motors, Haima is the second Chinese car manufacturer to make debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. At this year’s event, the Haima has assembled a slew of SUVs and EVs including the mid-size SUV Haima 8S.

Haima 8S was introduced last year in its mother country, China. As per the dimensions of the China-spec model, the 8S SUV will sit somewhere between MG Hector and Kia Seltos. The mid-size SUV features some highlight exterior details like the vertically-split headlights comprising of LED DRLs above the main headlamps. The roofline also sees a dramatic slope toward the rear end, bearing reminiscence to the coupe design.

Inside the cabin, the Haima 8S sports large touchscreen infotainment and a full-digital instrument cluster. The dashboard flaunts a total of 5 AC vents. Moreover, the presence of a large panoramic sunroof also significantly contributes to the airiness of the interior space.

Just like other modern Haima models, the Haima 8S will employ the in-house developed Haima Global Architecture (HMGA) platform. Before the debut of this new platform, most of the Haima models are based on the old Mazda platform. The use of HMGA will be expanded across its ranges of SUVs and electric vehicles.

Under the hood, the mid-size SUV sports a 1.6-litre T-GDI engine which generates a maximum power of 190 PS and a maximum torque of 195 Nm. This engine is coupled with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. To assist the driver, it also provides a three-drive mode system.

Haima Automobiles is in discussion with the state and central government to kick off their business in India. Along with the legal procedure, the car manufacturer is also conducting surveys of the India automobile market. It remains to be seen what cars they will bring to our market.
