Honda Amaze Outsells Ford Aspire By A HUGE Margin in May 2020

During May 2020, Honda Amaze scored the third position in terms of sales in the subcompact sedan segment, with more than three times the sales volume of the Ford Aspire.

With India currently going through a relaxed lockdown, there has been some positive growth in the Indian car market. Although the growth is slow, manufacturers are hopeful about the near future. In the sub-4-metre sedan class, Honda Amaze managed to score the third position in terms of sales volume during May 2020. In comparison, Ford Aspire was last in terms of sales, gaining the last spot in the sales chart during the same period.

Honda Amaze Outsells Ford Aspire By A HUGE Margin in May 2020

Honda Cars India Ltd managed to ship 140 units of the Amaze in May 2020. Compared to May last year, when Honda Amaze sold 6,000 units, this number is quite small. As for Ford, the Aspire sold only 44 units in May 2020, which is also quite low compared to the car’s sales figure during May 2019 (761 units). Still, the situation is not as dire as it was during April 2020, when there were absolutely zero sales in the entire Indian auto market.

Honda Amaze is currently in its second-generation model, which was introduced in 2018. Since then, the car has remained virtually unchanged in India. available with two engine options. The first one is a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated, inline-4 petrol engine. This motor is capable of generating 90 PS and 110 Nm. The second option is a 1.5-litre, turbocharged, inline-4 diesel engine, which can belt out 80 PS and 160 Nm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT.

As for the Ford Aspire, it was first introduced in 2015 and is still in its first generation. The model has received a mid-life update in 2018, and has remained aesthetically unchanged since then. The Aspire is also available with two engine options. The first of the two choices is the 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated, inline-3 petrol engine. This powerplant has 96 PS and 119 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The other engine option is a 1.5-litre diesel, which has 99 PS and 215 Nm on tap. There is a single transmission on offer though, a 5-speed manual unit.
