It has been revealed that together with the Honda Vezel, the Honda HR-V will possibly be released by late 2019 to rival Huydai Creta.

Honda Motor Co. Ltd has an intention of debuting Vezel sport-utility vehicle (SUV) in India by the end of 2019 in its ambition to exploit this bolstering segment. The plan to assemble five new vehicles, including two SUVs on its GSP platform, has also been revised by the company. Some Japanese car suppliers have been notified of the company’s plan to release HR-V to India market.

It has been affirmed by a senior executive at Honda Cars India Ltd that the Vezel, which is also the HR-V model, has potentialities to be launched by late 2019 but denied unveiling anything more. Honda does not have any chance of competing against Creta; therefore the denial to disclose anything to the public is a right decision.

The new Honda HR-V can help Honda increase its sales in India

Honda HR-V will be a supplement to Honda’s SUV collection in India including the compact SUV WR-V, and the CR-V and the BR-V models. New models can greatly assist Honda in the development process of SUV sales in India. For the last three years, although it has released two SUV models, Honda has had no significant effects on Indian auto market. Its sales of SUV has dropped by 28% to 133,63 units between April and July 2018.

Honda is also ready to debut a new hatchback, a compact SUV, a full-size SUV, and a crossover in India. Moreover, the strategy to manufacture cars based on GSP platform which was cancelled two years ago has also been revised.

Honda has had to share the market with other brands such as Suzuki Motor Corp. and Hyundai in car and sedan segments. To increase revenue, the company will release a brand new version of CR-V SUV, which is the HR-V and will also introduce the Civic sedan to the Indian auto market again.

Let’s hope that with this new Honda HR-V, the sales of Honda in SUV segment in India can considerably increase.
