Jeep officially entered the Indian market back in 2017 with the launch of the Jeep Compass. Throughout the years, this SUV remains to be the key product of the American car brand in the Indian market. Next year, Jeep Compass is due to receive its mid-life facelift. This will be an opportunity for Jeep to step up the game and enhance its appeal. Jeep’s SUV is rivalling against the likes of Tata Harrier, MG Hector and Mahindra XUV500. Unofficial bookings for the Jeep Compass are offered at some dealerships.
Earlier this year, in November, the facelift Jeep Compass was showcased at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China. For our market, the facelift Compass is slated to hit the showrooms in late January 2021. Some dealers across the country have started receiving bookings at the token amount of Rs 50,000.
The facelifted Jeep Compass will receive a revised bumper, new LED headlights, and DRLs on the front end. It continues to feature the iconic grille design with seven vertical slats, now with chrome details. Other than noticeable updates on the front, there will be new taillights and alloy wheels.
On the inside, the facelift version will adorn a dual-tone interior scheme of white and beige. There will be a new larger 10.1-inch floating infotainment screen along with a new digital instrument cluster. On the version on sale in the Chinese market, the Jeep Compass comes with connected car technology, 360-degree camera, 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging. It is expected that a similar version will be carried to the Indian market.
Under the hood, the engine setting remains unchanged. It will continue to offer the same set of engines, including a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine. The former is good for 163PS/250Nm and the latter is capable of making 173PS/350Nm. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. Each will receive a different automatic option. The petrol engine gets a 7-speed DCT while the diesel engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
At the moment, Jeep Compass is on sale at the starting price of Rs 16.49 lakh and the top-spec models can cost up to Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected that the facelift model will command a premium over the existing model.
