Russian AK 47 maker exhibited its new electric car which is inspired by a rare 1970s model. It is expected to compete with Elon Musk's Tesla.

Its look reminded us of a Soviet hatchback model developed in the 1970s named "Izh-Kombi”. It has been claimed by the company that some advanced elements such as a “revolutionary” inverter have been developed. The vehicle can accelerate to up to 350 kilometres in one charge.

The firm has also stated that they are developing their own concept of electric cars based on some unique systems, which can help them compete with other companies in the segment.

Kalashnikov Concern has been making efforts to expand its products and services, recently participating in lines of clothing and other civilian merchandise including umbrellas and mobile phone covers. Nevertheless, the participation of the company in the electric auto market has received various reactions from the public. Comments on the company’s official Facebook page ranged from "cyberpunk" to "Izh-Zombie". One user even wrote:

"Your tanks are great, but it would be better if you stayed away from cars."

Last week, online users teased Kalashnikov's new bipedal combat robot. The golden-colour machine, named "Igorek" in production stages, quickly became a subject of discussion on social media.

Whatever online users comment, it is undeniable that the electric supercar can possibly help Kalashnikov become a popular automaker in the EV segment and a rival against Tesla.
