Kia’s second car for India is the Carnival MPV. Prices of the Kia Carnival range from Rs 30 Lakh mark, while launch will take place in Auto Expo 2020
Kia Motors has started its innings in India with the introduction of the Kia Seltos for a couple of months. The Seltos SUV has clocked a decent sales volume in the domestic market and the company even begins exporting the made-in-India Seltos cars to other countries oversea. The South Korean company is set to introduce the second product for India – the Kia Carnival in the coming months. Now, we can confirm that the Carnival will be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo which is due to begin from February 5, 2020.
Kia is in the run-up to launch the Carnival MPV as its second product for the Indian market.
First showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, the Kia Carnival has garnered massive customer interest in India. Though the international-spec Carnival or Sedona as it’s called in some markets will receive a facelift soon, the Carnival sold in India will be a mildly-updated version of the existing model with some subtle changes in its styling and feature package.
The Kia Carnival has been confirmed to go on sale at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020.
Be it a premium luxury multi-purpose vehicle, the Kia Carnival can come as a viable alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta in our country. It is so big on the inside with a capacity to accommodate up to seven passengers. The premium MPV offering measures 5,115 mm long, 1,985 mm wide, 1,750 mm high along with the wheelbase of 3,060 mm, all of which trumps that of the Innova Crysta.
The all-new Kia Carnival will come as a threat to the popularity of Toyota Innova Crysta in India.
The Carnival is more practical than the Toyota counterpart with a lower-slung and a power-operated sliding doors and tailgate. The company will sell the MPV in various variants. The higher-end models are expected to get captain seats which have extendable arms and leg rest, several 10.1-inch screens with high-quality entertainment equipment. Furthermore, a big touchscreen infotainment system, Kia’s UVO Connect tech, two sunroofs, power-adjustable driver seat with memory, three-zone auto climate control along with a number of essential safety kits will be offered, at least on the top-spec variant.
Mechanically, the upcoming Kia Carnival is said to employ a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine complying with the BSVI standards. This engine is capable of producing 202 HP of power and 441 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is yet to know if the car could get a 6-speed MT as well.
More information about the India-spec Kia Carnival will be revealed during the course of its launch at the Auto Expo. Bookings for the Carnival might commence sometime in January 2020.
