Kia To Introduce New Logo in India on Upcoming Compact MPV

Within a short time span, Kia Motor has established considerable popularity in the Indian market with just a few vehicles. In the future, in order to expand its share in the market, the South Korean carmaker is planning to introduce a wide range of vehicles for the Indian market. One of them is a new compact MPV codenamed Kia KY. This model is scheduled to enter the market around January 2022. According to a recent report, the new compact MPV will be the first Kia model in India to feature the new logo of the brand.

Recently, Kia has revealed the new logo after hinting about the rebrand for years. From the beginning, Kia has built its brand around the budget-friendly cars with whatever the quality is. And the current logo has been closely attached to this perception toward the brand. However, it is no longer true that Kia only produces affordable cars. Today, Kia’s line-up is comprised of a wide range of vehicles with incredible quality and premiumness. Thereby, it requires complete rebranding, starting with the brand logo updates.

The new log is claimed to present Kia’s ambitions of becoming the leading figure of the mobility industry. According to Kia, the handwritten-like logo embodies “symmetry,” “rhythm” and “rising”. The new logo is unveiled alongside the new slogan – “Movement that inspires”. In the Indian market, the new logo is expected to make its debut on the upcoming MPV Kia KY.

Kia MPV will be developed on the same platform used on the Kia Seltos. This versatile platform is compatible with various body styles and powertrain settings. Besides the Kia MPV, this architecture will also be employed on the new seven-seater Hyundai Creta.

Coming back to the Kia MPV, this model will be available in two seating configurations, six- and seven-seater versions. Details of the upcoming compact MPV are not officially revealed yet. However, in all likelihood, it will carry forward the same engines and gearbox options from the Kia Seltos. The existing Kia Seltos is available with two choices of engines, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (113bhp/144Nm) and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel (113bhp/250Nm). Kia KY will be launched with both automatic and manual options.

Upon its arrival, the new MPV will take on the likes of Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo. The top-spec variants of this model can be a possible alternative to the best-selling premium Toyota Innova Crysta.
