The Mahindra XUV300 AMT will fare against the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon, both of which are available with a diesel-AMT option already.

During the last several months, Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped some serious hints about the introduction of an automatic version of the popular Mahindra XUV300 in the Indian market. After months of anticipation, the pre-bookings for the XUV300 AMT has already started, albeit unofficially, for a token amount of Rs 20,000. The Indian launch is set to happen later this month.

The all-new Mahindra XUV300 diesel-AMT is all set to go on sale in the next couple of days.

The automated manual version of the XUV300 is expected to command a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the standard XUV300 MT version which is currently priced at around Rs 7.90- 11.49 Lakh (for the petrol configuration) and Rs 8.49- 11.99 Lakh (for diesel configuration). The all-new model is said to get a diesel-AMT combo only, in the forms of the W6 and W8 variants. It is expected to come up with a Magneti Marelli-derived 6-speed automated manual transmission while reports suggested that there would be also a 6-speed CVT unit available for the petrol engine option on the table as well. That said, the AMT version is intended as a stopgap until the fully automatic version of the XUV300 makes its presence.

The XUV300 AMT is expected to borrow all the design cues of the regular model, barring an "autoSHIFT" lettering to set it apart.

Visually, the Mahindra XUV300 AMT looks identical to the standard XUV300, except for an “autoSHIFT” badge to set it apart from the regular model. It features projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, 17-inch machine-cut alloy wheels, dual-tone roof rails and more. On the inside, the XUV300 AMT comes offered with a handful of creature-comforts such as 7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system that enables Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and GPS navigation, power sunroof, dual-zone auto temperature control, leatherette upholstery, etc. Its safety features package comprises four disc brakes, ESP, roll-over mitigation, front parking sensors among others.
