As per a recent report, Maruti Eeco has achieved a new milestone by retailing 7 lakh units of the car in the last 10 years. It was first introduced in our market back in 2010 and the automaker sold more than 1 lakh units of the car in just 2 years. The Maruti van continued to achieve positive sales number and by 2014, it again sold 1 lakh units of the Eeco as its demand keeps on rising in the cargo market. To fulfil this demand, the carmaker introduced the new Cargo trim of Eeco back in 2015 and then they retail around 1 lakh units of car consecutively in the next 3 year. Maruti sold a total of 5 lakh units of the Eeco in the Indian market by 2018.
The automaker introduced the new BS6-compliant model of the car early this year. It derives power from a 1.2-litre four-pot petrol motor, which puts out power and torque outputs of 73bhp and 101 Nm. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed MT. A CNG-equipped trim of the van is also offered in our market, which is rated to return 21.8 kmpl of mileage. The Maruti Eeco was specially designed by the automaker to cater the middle-class Indian families in the tier 2 cities and also to support small scale businesses. The car has a huge customer base in the intra-city logistic market. It is preferred by people to transport courier, cargo school vans, goods and much more.
It comes loaded with features like an AC, semi-digital instrument console, cup holders, 12V power socket and rear sliding doors. It is retailed at a starting price of Rs 3.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level trim and goes all the way up to Rs 4.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec variant. Moreover, it is also offered in 5 smart looking colour shades namely- Solid White, Metallic Silky Silver, Metallic Glistening Grey, Pearl Midnight Black and Cerulean Blue.
