Maruti Suzuki has brought some minor design changes in both inside and out for the Nexa’s most affordable offering, Maruti Ignis (facelift). The car debuted at Auto Expo 2020.
Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the facelifted version of its crossover hatchback, Maruti Ignis, at the Auto Expo 2020. The Maruti Ignis facelift sports a couple of design changes outside and inside and a BSVI-compliant petrol engine under the bonnet. Bookings for the 2020 Maruti Ignis has been opened through the NEXA chain across India.
The updated Ignis features revised front and rear bumpers, both of which gets faux skid plates, adding to its crossover-ish look. The new toothy grille of the Ignis reminds us to the Suzuki Jimny. Apart from that, there’s not much to differentiate the new Ignis with the pre-facelift version.
Maruti Suzuki has introduced two new exterior paint schemes to the 2020 Ignis, namely Turquoise Blue and Lucent Orange as well as three new dual-tone colours including black- Nexa blue, black- lucent orange and silver- Nexa blue.
Stepped inside and the Maruti Ignis facelift looks almost identical to that of its predecessor, save for a bigger boot that has a capacity of 275 litres. The design of the dashboard remains untouched but the 7.0-inch touchscreen has been upgraded and switched to Maruti Suzuki’s Smart Play Studio infotainment system that boasts of on-board navigation and voice assistance. The Ignis also offers Suzuki’s S-Connect connected technology as an option. Other major interior features of the Ignis include auto AC, 60:40 split rear seats, day/night IRVM, rear parking camera among others.
Under the hood, the Maruti Ignis facelift makes use of a BSVI-compliant version of the 1.2-litre K12 engine that comes mated to a 5-speed MT and an AMT as earlier. This mill delivers the same output as in the BSIV guise - 85 PS and 113 Nm of peak power and torque repectively.
The Maruti Ignis facelift’s launch is slated for the coming weeks. It is expected to carry a small premium over the previous model due to the BSVI upgrades and additional features. It will continue to compete against the likes of Tata Tiago, Maruti WagonR, Hyundai Santro, and Datsun GO.
