The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the largest lockdown in human beings’ history. Like automotive events in the world, new car launches have also been delayed. Nevertheless, recently, thanks to the ease of the lockdown in India, several carmakers have launched their new models in the country. For instance, the refreshed Hyundai Tucson, new Honda City and the MG Hector Plus have just been launched. Also, the largest Indian automaker, Maruti Suzuki, looks all set to launch the Maruti S-Cross petrol later this month.

The Maruti S-Cross petrol will be retailed through companyi’s NEXA dealerships. It will be offered in three variants: Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The most outstanding point of the new hatchback will be its gasoline burner. This unit will be a 1.5-litre K15 naturally aspirated 4-cyl motor which also serves as the power source for the new Vitara Brezza. The engine can generate 105 BHP against 138 Nm. The transmission duties will be undertaken by a 5-speed MT and a 4-speed AT. Like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the S-Cross is expected to also come with a mild-hybrid system. Nevertheless, it will be only available in the 4-speed AT variants. While many features will remain unchanged as the current S-Cross, the new one will get several minor tweaks.

The S-Cross petrol is anticipated to be priced from INR 8.25 lakh to INR 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the vehicle will compete against the NA petrol versions of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
