A host of rumours and teasers has been around the corner for a course of time unveiling the Baleno RS facelift’s details. As with its base version, the Maruti Baleno RS undergoes a mid-cycle update carrying some subtle changes ixterior and interior. With an aim to blow a fresh air to the company’s hatchback portfolio, Maruti Suzuki has redesigned the Baleno RS by a larger front grille,a revised bumper with notable central air dam housing large faux-vents, new fog lamps and spoilers while the hatchback’s side profile will come along with newly developed newly crafted alloy wheels.

The new front fascia should be loved by the enthusiasts, while the equipment list of the car will also see some revisions. Though as per the dealer web, no official images of the Baleno RS’s cabin are released, it is foreseen to take a premium all-black cabin instead of borrowing the black-and-blue cabin from the standard model. The car’s feature list is slated to be on a par with the current range-topping Alpha variant of the Baleno counterpart. That’s to say, a new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system will be equipped along with automatic climate control, telescopically adjustable steering wheel, keyless entry and power folded side mirrors as some of the pinnacles. Other safety aids need mentioning includes the dual airbags, rear view camera, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD).

At Rs 8.76 Lakh, the Baleno RS facelift is looked to continue the reputation of the standard hatchback

Under the bonnet, the forthcoming Baleno RS will carry on using the same 102hp 1.0-litre 3-cylinder Boosterjet engine as its predecessor. It will retain pairing with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. No automatic gearbox is yet to see in the new model, but the company will bring in four-wheels disc brakes in the new version this time.

To build a constant reputation as its base Baleno hatchback, the Baleno RS facelift, once it’s launched, will come to fare against the likes of the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI, Tata Tiago JTP or the Fiat Abarth Punto in India.
