MG Motor is gearing up for the commercial launch of the Hector for the Indian market this June 2019.

Days ago, the British carmaker revealed its plans to establish up to 50 dealerships with 120 touch points for sales and services across the nation ahead of the MG Hector’s launch. The first MG showroom in India is expected to open its doors in Delhi on June 4, 2019. The prospective buyers who have accessed and registered their interest in the automotive company’s official website will be contacted by local dealers in their neighbourhood and invited to book the Hector SUV. In a further development, MG Motor is planning to expand the number of sales and services touchpoints in India to 250 no later than September 2019.

In the Indian market, the upcoming “Internet SUV”- MG Hector will come to lock horns with the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass. Powering the car is a 143 hp, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 170 hp 2.0-litre diesel unit that also powers the Tata Harrier but for a different state of tune. The first offering by MG is expected to garner a huge band of followers right from the word go thanks to the long list of segment-first features such as a largest-in-segment 10.4-inch vertically-placed tablet-like touchscreen infotainment system compatible with 50+ connectivity features, a panoramic sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, six airbags and much more.

At launch, the brand new Hector will be available in a five-seat layout while the seven-seat variant has been confirmed to join the lineup a little later. The official launch of the MG Hector is scheduled in June 2019. Prices of the SUV are estimated to range from Rs 15-20 Lakh (ex-showroom).
