MG5 Electric Revealed For European Market

It is a wide-known fact that electric cars are the future of the car industry. At the moment, China is the leading market for electric vehicles in the world with a wide range of electric cars. Chinese car brands are also among the leading force in the electrification revolution. Recently, the Chinese-owned car brand, MG Motor has launched two new electric models in the European market including the Marvel R Electric SUV and the MG5 Electric station wagon.

MG5 Electric is claimed to be the first electric station wagon in the world

Claimed to be the first electric station wagon in the world, the MG5 Electric is claimed to come with a driving range of 400 km on the WLTP cycle. This model is powered by a single electric motor that produces 184 Bhp and 280 Nm. In China, this model goes under the name Ei5 which is based on the Roewe i5. Last year, MG Motor brought this model to the UK market under the new name, MG5 EV. It is also launched in Thailand as MG EP.

The world’s first station wagon MG5 will offer a high level of practicality, and hence, appealing to the customers from this niche market. Providing a total massive storing space of 578 litres which can be extended to 1,456 litres if the rear seats are folded.

MG5 measures 4,544 mm, 1,811 mm, and 1,513 mm in length, width and height. It runs on a wheelbase of 2,665 mm. The MG5 Electric makes use of a 52.2 kWh battery pack that is located between the front and rear axles. About the loading capability, this electric station wagon features a maximum trail load of 500 kilograms, a roof load of 75 kilograms, and a maximum drawbar of 50 kilograms.

About the charging technology, the MG5 is provided with an 11kW AC charger as well as fast charging which can charge up to 80 per cent in haft an hour.About the Marvel R Electric, this EV is equipped with three motors. The dimensions of this model are 4,674 mm in length, 1,919 mm in width and 1,618 mm in height. The wheelbase measures 2,800 mm. It comes with a 19.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system loaded with in-car connectivity features, various active safety technologies, as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. This electric vehicle receives power from an electronic motor that makes 288 BHP and 665 Nm. This engine allows the MG5 to runs from zero to 100 kmpl in 4.9 seconds. Currently, the British car brand has been working on expanding its range of electric vehicles in the international market. As a part of the plan, MG will establish over 200 dealerships in Europe this year.
