2021 Ford F-150 Unveiled, America's Best-Selling Car Comes In New-Generation Avatar

Ford F-150 is the best-selling vehicle in the United States of America and is currently in its thirteenth generation. The current generation model was introduced in 2015, and it was long due for a major update. Now, Ford has finally unveiled the fourteenth generation of their best-seller in the US market. The pickup is slated to be launched in a few months at a later stage.

The new generation F-150 features some aesthetic differences over the outgoing model. The front grille has been redesigned, and the headlamps are now larger and get dual-element boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. The rear section now features new tail lamps and a new hatch for the bed that can also be used a picnic bench. The F-150 will be offered in multiple cab options as well as multiple bed options, thus allowing people to customise their vehicle as per their own requirement.

The new generation Ford F-150 will be available with multiple engine options – a naturally aspirated 2.7-litre V6, a turbocharged 3.3-litre V6, a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6, and a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8. All these engines will be petrol-powered. For those looking for an oil burner, Ford will offer the option of a 3.0L V6. Talking of the transmission duties, all of these engines will come mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission only. Also, Ford has unveiled a new hybrid powertrain this time. It consists of a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V-6 paired to a 35 kW electric motor. Ford claims it will be the most frugal option on the list with a driving range of 700 miles on a tankful. Ford says that it will launch an all-electric version in 2022. An off-road spec ‘Raptor’ model is also expected to make a debut sometime later.

The MY2021 Ford F-150 comes with plenty of features and premium equipment on offer. The truck comes equipped with a 12-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, featuring the latest Sync system. The current generation model only had a 7-inch touch screen as standard, upgradeable to an 8-inch unit. Other than that, Ford is also offering safety features like Collision Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and Automatic Emergency Braking, along with six airbags as standard. The party trick here is that the 10-speed AT's shift lever can be folded to increases more space in the centre console.

Ford F-150 in its outgoing avatar is a full-sized truck, with a length of 5.3 metres, a width of 2 metres, a height of over 1.9 metres, and a wheelbase length of 3.1 metres. It also has a ground clearance of over 220 mm. The new-gen model is only slightly bigger than the current model.
