Track-Focused Ford Mustang Mach 1 Revealed

The Ford Mustang Mach 1 is making a comeback after 17 years with upgraded mechanics and looks.

Earlier this year, the American automaker Ford announced the return of the Mustang Mach 1 officially for the 2021 Model Year as a limited edition model. The legendary muscle car was first introduced back in the 1960s. The automaker says that the Mach 1 has an exclusive position in Mustang’s history and it gets the top spot in 5.0-litre V8 performance stable. The new special edition model continues the legacy of the Mach 1 that was first launched in 1969 models and saw improved performance compared to the Mustang GT. It returned for 2003 and 2004 model years with distinctive handling suspension, bigger Brembo disc brakes, hood stripes and a matte black spoiler. After 17 years, the Mustang Mach 1 is making a comeback as a hardcore track-ready 5.0-litre Mustang.

The Ford Mustang Mach 1 will be powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine, which puts out 480bhp of power

The new model has the DNA of Shelby with an updated 5.0-litre V8 engine covered with vintage bonnet stripes and graphics. Upfront, the muscle car sports round-shaped air-inlets in the grille, functional air scoops and so on. Talking about its performance, the engine is capable enough to produce 480 bhp of power. The engine comes paired with an optional 10-speed AT or the purists a can opt for rev-matching six-speed MT. The two-door coupe gets Shelby GT350 like heat exchangers and the rear axle coolers, rear valence are acquired from the GT500. Moreover, the sub-frames at the front and rear are also from Shelby. The carmaker has also updated the suspension system.

Inside, the limited edition model will feature new instrument cluster, Recaro seats, an exclusive Mach 1 shifter, plaque chassis number, unique sill plates and so on. Although it is a limited edition car, the new Mustang Mach 1 will be retailed across 50 countries.In India, the Mustang GT is offered in a single trim and is priced at Rs 76.61 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It derives power from a 5.0-litre, V8 gasoline engine, which puts out power and torque outputs of 396bhp and 515 Nm. The engine comes coupled to a 6-speed DCT.
