New-gen Hyundai i20 is manufactured at Hyundai's Chennai-based plant with extensive use of state-of-art and advanced technologies.

Hyundai is all set to introduce the third-gen Hyundai i20. Ahead of the launch date, the South Korean carmaker has started promoting the new model. Recently, Hyundai uploaded a video detailing the manufacturing process of the new Hyundai i20.

In the video, Mr Ganesh Mani S, Director of Production, Hyundai Motor India, takes the viewers to a journey of how the all-new Hyundai i20 models are made. He also emphasizes Hyundai’s commitment to “ensure supreme levels of manufacturing excellence”. According to him, these promises are “perfectly culminated” in the all-new i20. He also assures, “With our 24-year rich manufacturing heritage of ‘Make in India’, the all-new i20 is yet another benchmark brand from Hyundai that is an edge above the rest.”

The new-gen Hyundai i20 is manufactured at the Hyundai’s Chennai-based plant. Here are some of the highlights of the manufacturing process of the upcoming Hyundai i20. Hyundai i20 is claimed to feature a robust structure which “conforms to supreme levels of quality and durability”.

As to enhance the structure of the vehicle and increase the crashworthiness of the new model, Hyundai has introduced a Robust Superstructure with extensive use of 66% Advanced and High-Strength Steel. The bodybuilding process is run by a manufacturing line of 100 per cent welding automation. Thanks to the excellence of the body-making process, the new Hyundai i20 manages to achieve a 13 per cent increase in the average tensile strength compared to the existing model.

In addition, Advanced technologies like Digital Gauge is applied to measure the panel thinning distribution. On the other hand, 3D scanning of parts is used to analyse and improve the accuracy of the press panel parts. The vibrant and refined finish of the new Hyundai i20 is processed at Paint Shop with the application of High Throw Power 7th Generation Electro Deposition Paint, which makes sure that the exterior finish will be rust-free and corrosion-resistant for a long time. The painting process is executed by the seamless automatic line of 72 robots, guaranteeing a standardized and uniform quality.

As for the manufacturing process of the most important part of the vehicle, the engine, the South Korean car manufacturer has performed various intense tests on the engine to ensure the engine is strong and resilient. In addition, Hyundai also puts a strong focus on the quality of every single component of the new Hyundai i20. The components are sourced from Hyundai’s long-term partners from across the country, which is ensured to feature the same world-class standard of quality and reliability.
