Initially, Mahindra will offer the new-gen Thar in 18 cities. The all-new off-roader has been launched at a starting price of Rs 12.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Mahindra & Mahindra has finally launched the new-gen Thar in the India market. It is offered at a starting price of Rs 9.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level AX petrol trim and goes all the way up to Rs 12.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec LX diesel variant. The company has started accepting bookings and test drive of the SUV. The automaker said that initially, it will offer the all-new Mahindra Thar in 18 cities across the country - Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Cochin, Calicut, Thrissur, Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, Goa and Nasik. However, from October 10, in the second phase, Mahindra will start offering the car in other states of the country.

The all-new Mahindra Thar is offered in 8 variants and two trims- AX (Adventure oriented) and LX (Lifestyle oriented). One can book the 2020 Mahindra Thar by visiting a dealership or through the company’s official website. The SUV derives power from a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine and a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol motor. The former develops power and torque outputs of 130hp and 300 Nm, while the latter puts out 150hp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed AT.

It comes loaded with features like brake-locking front axle, satellite navigation, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable side ORVM, lumbar-adjust for front row seats, steering mounted controls, touchscreen infotainment unit with latest connectivity features, cruise control, front power windows and much more.

The all-new Mahindra Thar is offered in three different roof options- fixed soft top, convertible soft top, and fixed hardtop. The entry-level AX trim gets 16-inch steel rims, and the top-spec LX trim employs 18-inch grey-finished alloy wheels. The automaker is yet to reveal prices of the automatic variants, and they are likely to be Rs 80,000 to Rs 1.60 lakh costlier than the manual trims. In terms of dimensions, the new-gen Mahindra Thar is 3,985 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, and 1,896 mm tall.
