Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio To Launch By Mid-2021

Mahindra is working on revising its retire range of products. This year, the home-grown car manufacturer has launched the new-gen Mahindra Thar which has quickly become the hottest car of 2020 in our country. To keep the momentum going, next year, Mahindra will bring in some new models. Two key launches of Mahindra in 2021 are the new-gen Mahindra XUV500 and new-gen Scorpio. It is recently confirmed that the latter will enter the market by mid-2021. Mahindra has carried out testing on the new-gen Scorpio for quite a while now. It has been spotted various time during the process.

All-new Mahindra Scorpio is built on the all-new ladder-frame platform that underpins the new-gen Thar. In addition, there will be a brand-new design alongside various feature updates. As per the spy shots, the Mahindra Scorpio will sport the tall boy stance with an upright silhouette. We can also tell that the new-gen model will come with a dimensional growth, in both length and width. From what we have seen by far, the new Scorpio will be unmistakably SUV-ish with boxy and butch design.

Mahindra Scorpio will continue to feature sharp and bold character lines across the side body. It is also evident from spy shots that the new-gen Scorpio will ditch the sloping roof. Instead, there will be an upright rear windshield which creates a kink on the rear end. The similar styling has been applied to other SUVs on Mahindra’s range as well.

On the inside, the Mahindra Scorpio will see a comprehensive makeover. For the new-gen model, Mahindra will work on improving its interior quality which was deemed a major weakness of the outgoing model. First and foremost, the fit and finish of the interior will see a huge improvement with higher quality materials. There will be a new larger vertical-oriented touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard. It is also revealed that the new interior of the new Scorpio will share many things in common with the new-gen Thar.

In terms of powertrain setting, Mahindra Scorpio will adopt the same engines and transmission options from the new Thar. It will get the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit. However, on the new-gen Scorpio, these engines will be available in different states of tune. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be offered on new Mahindra Scorpio. It will be the only car in the segment to come with seven-seater configuration and a ladder-frame chassis. Prices for the new Mahindra Scorpio is expected to range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14 lakh.
