Two globally successful electric-hybrid models of Nissan have been once again seen testing on the Indian streets

Nissan seems to be struggling to establish a foothold in the Indian market. The Micra, Sunny and Terrano have struggled enough to maintain humble sales volume. In the wake of the poor sales performance, Nissan has launched the capable SUV model Nissan Kicks which has instantly helped to boost the overall sales of Nissan India. After the success of the Kicks, Nissan will bring in what they are good at – EVs. In the near future, Nissan is planning to launch two new EVs, the Nissan Leaf and Nissan Note e-Power in India. These two models were seen undergoing road tests near Delhi last month. Recently, the duo was even spotted at a dealership without camouflage.

The Nissan Leaf has already been confirmed for the Indian market. Previously, it was scheduled to launch earlier this year. However, the EV's India debut has been delayed for some reason. On the other hand, Nissan has been less open about the launch of the hybrid Note e-Power. Globally, the company first came up with the Leaf back in 2010. For almost a decade, the Nissan Leaf has been one of the world’s best-selling EVs with over 4,00,000 units sold globally. The recent updates in 2017 have helped to significantly increase the sales of this model. In 2019, this model has entered over 50 markets across the world. And India will be among its next destinations.

Nissan Leaf receives power from the EM57 electric motor. This motor could make 110 kW, which is equal to 150 PS and the maximum torque of 320 Nm. Being in charge of providing electricity for the electric motor is the 4- kWh Li-ion battery. Equipped with dual charging, the Leaf could be fully charged in 16 hours through the domestic 3 kW charging port or in 8 hours by using the 6 kW charger. Thanks to the fast charging technology, the battery pack could be charged 80% in 40 minutes. In the test cycle, the Left could deliver a range of 400 km.

Last year, Nissan also launched an e+ variant on the Leaf globally. This variant employs a different 62 kWh battery pack. The best part about this model is its notable range of 570 km on the JC08 test cycle. Along with a more powerful model, the e+ could get the peak power of 218 PS and 340 Nm. However, the e+ is unlikely to make it to the India market due to its high price.
