Over 9,000 Units of Kia Sonet Sold in Just 12 Days From Launch

Within two weeks after launch, Kia Sonet has registered the sales of over 9,000 units, becoming the best selling vehicle on the range.

Kia Sonet officially entered the Indian market on September 18, 2020. It has been two weeks since the launch of Kia Sonet. In less than half the duration of a month, the new SUV has clocked the sales milestone of over 9,200 units. Being available on sale for only two weeks, the Kia Sonet has easily become the best-selling model on Kia’s Indian line-up. The debut of the Kia Sonet has contributed significantly to Kia’s impressive growth of 147 per cent on year-on-year basis. In September, Kia Motor has registered the total sales of 18,676 units in India.

From the beginning, Kia Sonet comes in two lines, Tech Line and GT Line, and 6 trims. The Tech Line consists of 5 trims including HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX and HTX+. The GT Line, on the other hand, is available exclusively in one single trim which is the top-spec GTX+. The GT Line flaunts a sportier design with some unique features like red accents and contrasting red stitching inside the cabin.

Some interior highlight features of the Kia Sonet are a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a Bose sound system, UVO connectivity system, leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and air purifier. It also comes with front parking sensors, cruise control and more.

Kia Sonet is offered with two petrol engines and one diesel unit. The two petrol engines include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. While the former is capable of making a maximum power of 83 PS and a peak torque of 113 Nm, the latter is good for 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque. The naturally aspirated petrol engine is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox and is limited to the lower variants only. The more powerful turbocharged petrol engine gets two choices of transmission, a 7-speed DCT automatic or a 6-speed iMT gearbox.

The only diesel engine available here is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged motor. This engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. If mated to the manual gearbox, this engine can generate a top power of 100 PS and maximum torque of 240 Nm. However, the diesel-automatic powertrain is more powerful with 115 PS of top power and 250 Nm of top torque. Kia Sonet is available at the starting price of Rs 6.71 lakh. The top-spec variant is priced at Rs 12.99 lakh. The Sonet fares against the likes of Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Toyota Urban Cruiser, and Ford EcoSport,
