Hyundai i20 N has been recently spied while getting tested. It’ll derive power from a potent 1.6-litre turbo petrol motor.

Hyundai i20 N is the performance version of the new-gen i20. The sporty hatchback spied a few months back while getting tested. The car was covered with camouflage and cladding which hides a lot of sporty details of the hatchback. Recently, the upcoming Hyundai i20 N was again spied while testing, but without cladding. The camouflage still covers most of the parts of the hatchback and there’s still some black cladding at the front fascia of the car. Recently, the Hyundai i20 N was spied testing at Nurburgring, and this is the production-spec model of the car.

Visually, the upcoming Hyundai i20 N will look similar to that of the regular i20, but it’ll surely feature some sporty details. The front fascia of the car gets i20-like headlamps and fog lamps. One can expect the car to feature a revised grille. On the side, it’ll feature multi-spoke alloy wheels, which will surely enhance the sporty quotient of the car. The hatchback will also get a blacked-out roof. The rear facia of the new Hyundai i20 N looks identical to the regular i20, but it’ll get some sporty touches like an aggressive spoiler along with a revised bumper.

Mechanically, it’ll derive power from a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol motor, which is tuned to produce 201bhp of power and 265 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed MT or a DCT. In the foreign market, the sporty hatchback will rival with the likes of Ford Focus ST and VW Polo GTI. Right now, the carmaker has no plans to introduce the i20 N in our market in the near future. The Korean automaker is all set to introduce the new-gen i20 in India in the coming months. Once launched, it’ll lock horns against the likes of Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz. It is likely to derive power from three different powertrain options- a 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.2-litre diesel unit. All three engine options will be offered with manual and automatic gearbox options.
