Renault HBC (Renault Kiger) Sketch To Rendering
As for the recent line-up, Renault is offering three models including Renault Kwid, Renault Triber and Renault Duster. Renault’s models are priced competitively. The attractive pricing was cited as the selling point of Renault’s line-up. Apparently, the French car manufacturer will follow the same strategy for the upcoming compact SUV. It is likely that the Renault Kiger will enter the Indian market as the most affordable compact SUV upon its arrival.
At the moment, the compact segment is one of the most competitive spaces in the market. It has attracted almost every big brand in the automotive market. Lately, Kia is the latest company to penetrate into this segment with the Kia Sonet. Priced from Rs 6.71 lakh, the Kia Sonet is currently the most affordable sub-compact SUV in our market. As for the Renault Kiger, it is expected that the French carmaker will even lower the price to under Rs 5.5 lakh. The top-spec model might go up to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). With this pricing, the Renault Kiger can be an alternative for the buyers of the hatchback segment if they want to upgrade to SUV cars.
Besides the attractive pricing, Renault Kiger is expected to be well-equipped as well
About the powertrains, the Renault Kiger is likely to receive the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine as the Renault Triber. This engine is capable of making a top power of 72 PS and a maximum torque of 96 Nm. It is likely to come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Another engine choice might be the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which makes 100 PS and 160 Nm. Besides the standard 5-speed manual, this turbocharged engine is likely to get a 1.0-litre petrol powertrain.
The aggressive pricing undeniably adds appeal for the upcoming Kiger. However, the low price does not assure the success of the new Renault models, especially in the highly competitive space like this. In order to draw the customers, Renault needs to back its model with better features and techs. Renault Kiger is expected to offer an 8-inch touch-screen with connectivity system, semi-digital instrument cluster, cruise control and automatic AC.
