Skoda Kamiq Spotted Testing Totally Uncovered

The design of the Kamiq bears a strong resemblance to the concept which it is based on, the Skoda Vision X. Although the side profile and the rear of the SUV have been caught sight of many times, this is the first time that its front has been spotted. In the front, the most outstanding feature of the Kamiq is the double vertical slats between two split headlamps, which enhances the robustness of the SUV. The sweeping DRLs and indicators are positioned above the main lights with the high and dipped beam. The large honeycomb grille is a typical design feature of the Czech automaker. On the side profile, the SUV gets a black cladding to increase the ruggedness. In the rear, its C-shaped tail lamps add to its sporty look.

The EU-spec Kamiq is slightly longer than the Scala, has a 2,651 mm wheelbase and a 400-litre boot space which can be expanded to 1,395 litres with the rear seat row completely folded. The interior is expected to be similar to the Scala.

The Skoda Kamiq is likely to be equipped with only a front-wheel-drive system. The engine options may include

• 1.0-litre TSI petrol motor with three states of power: 95 PS, 115 PS and 150 PS

• 1.6-litre TDI diesel motor with 115 PS          

• 1.0L G-TEC petrol-CNG motor with 90 PS

The transmission duties are expected to be undertaken by a 5-speed MT, a 6-speed MT and 7-speed direct-shift gearbox.

The Skoda Kamiq will have multiple engine options

The India-bound Kamiq will be influenced by the EU-spec model. Underpinned by the MQB A0 IN platform, a refined version of the MQB platform, the former will look more muscular with greater dimensions.
