Suzuki Ertiga Crossover To Arrive in Indonesia By The End of 2019

Even though not officially confirmed, it is known for sure that the new Ertiga-based crossover is going to make debut in Indonesia due to the leakage of the secret document. In this document which is likely to be the planning report sent from the Indonesian office to Suzuki’s headquarter, it is stated that, “Around the end of 2019, we are going to introduce New SUV derived from All-New Ertiga with sales plan of 30,000 units.”

It is not the first time the idea of Indonesia Ertiga cross bopped up. Later in 2018, a leaked image has been circulating around the internet, hinting the upcoming of an Ertiga-based crossover. If launched, this vehicle will be a fierce competitor against Mitsubishi Xpander and Honda BR-V in Indonesia market.

As a crossover, the YHB will be added with plastic body cladding, faux skid plates and possibly larger alloy wheels. To create its own identity, Suzuki might give it a different interior colour and upholstery that might come in line with its strong exterior representation. It might feature a higher ground clearance.

Under the hood, it is likely that Ertiga-based cross will bring out the same powertrain setting. The petrol version might get the 1.5-litre K15B motor while the diesel variant will be powered by an in-house built 1.5-litre unit.

From India’s part, the new Ertiga will be distributed through two retail outlets, Arena and NEXA, in which the former will sell the standard version while the premium showrooms of NEXA will take care of the top-spec variant. The Ertiga sold under NEXA’s dealership will come with more advanced comfort features and especially, bigger seating capacity of six seats.

The second-generation Ertiga is selling well in the Indian market. However, there is yet any clue on the Indian launch of the Ertiga cross. While the MPV segment is in high demand in Indonesia, it is not as popular in India.
