New report claims that the launch of the Tata Altroz, which was expected next month, has now been postponed till early 2020.

Tata Altroz, the most hyped upcoming Tata car at the moment, has had yet another delay to its launch. The premium hatchback was first put on display as the 45X concept at the 2018 Auto Expo and then, later, at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The India-spec production version has been under development ever since.

Earlier, the company was readying its promotional campaign for a launch next month. In fact, some models had even reached dealerships. Now, however, the Tata Altroz launch date seems to have been postponed until early 2020 according to a new report. At first, it seemed like Tata Motors would launch the Altroz with BSIV compliant engines and introduce BSVI engines later down the line. Now, however, it seems like the car would be launched with BSVI-ready engines from the get-go.

A short promotional video clip was released earlier as a part of the promotions, which teased the interior of the Altroz. It will come equipped with premium features like 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, ambient lighting, and a part-digita-part-analog instrument cluster.

The design of the Altroz is based on the IMPACT Design 2.0, which is also the philosophy behind the design of the beautiful-looking Tata Harrier. The Altroz is underpinned by Tata’s indigeniously developed ‘Advanced Modular Platform (Alfa-Arc)’, which it shares with other sub-4-metre Tata vehicles.

As for the powerplants, the Altroz was expected to feature three engine options; the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine from the Tiago, the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor from the Nexon, and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel motor, also from the Nexon. Now though, it seems like Tata will be developing new engines, possibly for its entire line-up. While there have been no official figures yet, the pricing is expected to be between ₹ 5-9 lakh (ex-showroom). Stay tuned to IndianAuto.com for more info on the Tata Altroz launch date.
