Tata Nexon falls off a flyover on Mumbai-Goa highway, lands with its wheel facing the sky. The passengers escaped with just minor injuries.

Tata Nexon was highly appreciated for its 5-star Global-NCAP crash test rating. The manufacturer has now introduced the facelifted Nexon in the market with BS-6 engines, which will also likely score a 5-star Global-NCAP crash test rating. Also, an electrified version of the car is on sale now whose crash test ratings are yet to be revealed. The Nexon has been proving its mettle in terms of passenger safety, as most accidents that have involved the Nexon have had no casualties whatsoever.

The reason for the accident is said to be the loss of control while the driver was speeding on the flyover

In a recent event reported in Mumbai, something similar happened, when a Nexon with 3 passengers on board fell off the flyover and landed upside down on the ground. The car fell from almost 15 feet down the flyover. Thankfully, all the passengers on board escaped the accident with minor injuries. The accident happened on Mumbai-Goa highway when the driver lost control over the car and it fell down from the flyover.

According to the spokesperson of Raigad police, “There is no report from the traffic police of him driving under the influence of alcohol, but fortunately, the SUV did not fall on any other vehicle plying on the road below.”

Talking of the Nexon, it is said to be engineered with high strength steel and thus boasts of a safe and strong structure. The Nexon also gets a slew of safety features to get a 5-star crash test rating. It comes with ABS with EBD assistance, Corner Stability Control, 2-airbags, front seat belt reminders, high-speed alerts, and rear parking sensors as standard. To keep the passengers in comfort, it also comes with automatic climate control, cooled glovebox, a Harman-sourced touch-screen infotainment system, an all-digital instrument cluster.

Tata Nexon is available with 2 BS-6 compliant engine options – a 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo-petrol motor and a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. There are two different transmission options to choose from, a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AMT. With its prices starting at Rs. 6.95 Lakhs, it competes against the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and the likes.
