Tata Nexon Diesel Commands 50% Lower Waiting Period Than Petrol Variant

Tata Nexon's diesel variants command a waiting period of around 5-6 weeks. However, petrol trims of the Nexon have twice the waiting period of their diesel counterparts. Read the complete report here.

Tata Nexon is a highly-successful product of the indigenous carmaker in the Indian market. It rivals the likes of Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Kia Sonet, Maruti Vitara Brezza and more. The Nexon is loved by the Indian audience for its long feature list, sharp design, and 5-star crash test rating. Indeed, it has the longest waiting period in comparison to other Tata cars sold in the Indian market. The waiting period for petrol trims of the Nexon extends up to 13-14 weeks. However, their diesel counterparts have 50 per cent shorter waiting period. For diesel variants of the Nexon, a customer will have to wait for anywhere between 5 to 6 weeks.

Waiting periods for the Tata Nexon were revealed by a leaked internal document that the brand has shared with its dealers in the southern part of India. Also, the higher waiting period for petrol variants suggests that the demand for diesel-powered Nexon is marginally less. The Nexon comes with two engine options – 1.2L turbo-petrol and 1.5L turbo-diesel. The turbo-petrol motor is a 3-cylinder unit and churns out 120 PS of peak power and 170 Nm of max torque. The oil burner with its 4-cylinder configuration puts out rated power and torque outputs of 110 PS and 260 Nm, respectively. Both of these engines are available with two transmission choices – 6-speed MT and 6-speed AMT.

Moreover, the Nexon comes loaded with a lot of features. It gets a touchscreen infotainment unit with Harman-sourced sound system, along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Other features include an electronic sunroof, keyless entry & go, push-button start-stop system, multi-drive modes, all-digital instrument cluster, steering-mounted audio controls, LED DRLs, projector headlamps, power windows, cruise control, power-adjustable ORVMs and more. For the safety of the occupants, it comes loaded with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake disc wiping, hill hold assist, reverse parking sensors, traction control, corner stability control, seat belt alarm, high-speed alert, seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters as standard affair across the range.
