Deliveries of Tata Nexon EV Commence

The most affordable electric SUV in India, Tata Nexon EV is priced from Rs 13.99 Lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

Earlier this year, Tata Motors launched the Nexon EV, the brand’s first-ever fully-electric SUV in the Indian market. Prices of the Tata Nexon EV start at Rs 13.99 Lakh and goes up to Rs 15.99 Lakh for the top-spec trim (all prices, ex-showroom). Recently, the carmaker has commenced the deliveries of Tata Nexon EV in India.

The electric version of the popular Tata Nexon debuts the company’s new Ziptron electric technology. The purely-electric compact SUV features a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery under its skin which powers an electric motor placed on the front axle.

While the battery pack can be charged up to 80 per cent in 60 minutes via DC fast charger, it takes about 8 hours to be fully charged with the help of a 3.3 kW AC fast charger. The electric motor on the Nexon EV can produce 129 HP of max power and 245 Nm of peak torque that is claimed to help the car to sprint to 100 kmph from a standstill in 9.9 seconds and tops out at the speed of 180 kmph.

The all-new Tata Nexon EV is equipped with projector headlamps, LED DRLs, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, premium sound system by Harman. The SUV even comes packed with Tata’s ZConnect and makes use of OTA updates.

As far as safety is concerned, Tata Nexon EV follows the footstep of the regular Nexon by offering a suite of safety features including dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors, hill hold assist, hill-descent assist, rear parking camera and cornering fog lamps.

By undercutting Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV, Tata Nexon EV is now the most affordable electric SUV of India.

Currently, Tata Nexon EV sees no immediate rival in the Indian auto market. Its closest contenders, the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric are placed higher in the price range at Rs 20.88 Lakh and Rs 23.71 Lakh onward, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom). However, the Nexon EV will face the imminent rivalry from the Mahindra XUV300 EV sometime next year.
