Tata Nexon EV Launch Confirmed For 2020

Indian carmaker Tata has confirmed that they will launch the Tata Nexon EV in the next 18 months. The electric version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza rival will be priced between Rs 10-15 lakhs.

Tata Motors has just confirmed that they are all set to launch the Nexon electric SUV in the next eighteen months, which means we can spot Nexon EVs on our streets before the end of 2020. The Nexon EV will be the first electric SUV in the company's portfolio. For now, Hyundai Kona is the only electric SUV offered in our markets. MG will also launch its first electric SUV named MG eZS, which is scheduled to launch by the end of this year. The MG EV is expected to priced under Rs 20 lakh, making it much cheaper than the Kona EV. We are still waiting for the company to announce the exact range of the MG eZS. Even Korean carmaker Hyundai has planned to invest Rs 2,000 crore to offer an affordable and high range EVs in Indian markets.

Tata Motors has just confirmed that they are all set to launch the Nexon electric vehicle by next year, which means we can spot Nexon EVs on our streets before the end of 2020. 

Maruti Suzuki also has plans to introduce the WagonR EV next year, which will offer a range of 150 km. On the other hand, Mahindra is about to launch the electric variant of the KUV100, named eKUV100, with an expected 250 km range. The eKUV100 will be priced close to Rs 10 lakh. The upcoming Tata Nexon EV is expected to offer a range between 250-300 km. The car will feature the same electric powertrain which was employed in the Altroz EV, showcased this year at the Geneva Motor Show.

The electric version of the Tata Nexon will be priced somewhere between Rs10 to 15 lakh. Besides, the Tata Nexon will likely get a mid-life makeover by 2020. The facelift will make the Tata Nexon look fresher as the new model could borrow some styling cues from the Tata Harrier.
