Almost 6,000 Tata Altroz sold last month, Maruti Baleno Maintains Dominance with Almost 19,500 Units

Tata Altroz registered 20 per cent Month-on-Month sales growth in September 2020. The most premium Tata hatchback ever locks horns with Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Baleno

Tata Motors introduced its first-ever premium hatchback Altroz early this year. It rivals with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20 (748 units), Maruti Baleno (19,433 units) and Honda Jazz (748 units). Tata Altroz is performing quite well in terms of overall sales. Due to the ongoing situation, the Indian automobile industry is going through tough times and the carmakers are on a recovery path. Tata Altroz is playing a major role in clocking positive sales for the automaker every month. Last Month, Tata retailed 5,952 units of Altroz in comparison to the 4,951 units sold in August 2020. The premium hatchback has seen Month-on-Month volume growth of 20 per cent.

Tata Altroz was the third best-selling car by the automaker in our market. Mechanically, it derives power from 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former develops 86 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 3,300 rpm, while the former churns out 95 PS at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm at 1,250-3,000 rpm. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed MT. Right now, Tata Altroz is the only car in its segment, which is offered with both petrol and diesel powertrain. Soon, the carmaker will introduce the turbo petrol variant of the hatchback. It’ll derive power from a 1.2-litre turbocharged gasoline mill. The ongoing model of the car is offered at a starting price of Rs 5.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level XE petrol trim and goes all the way up to Rs 9.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec XZ Urban diesel variant.
