Skoda has recently unveiled the fourth-gen Scout, which will be offered in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive layout.

Skoda Octavia is one of the popularly known cars offered by the Czech automaker around the world. The carmaker launched the new-gen model of the car last year. The Octavia is not only the most popular Skoda, but it is also one of the most diverse cars that the Czech carmaker offers, given the fact that the car is being offered in several different formats. Earlier this year, Skoda launched the performance-oriented version of the fourth-gen Octavia named as vRS. And, now the carmaker has revealed the estate version of the Octavia with rugged appeal. Skoda calls it as Octavia Scout. Just like its predecessor, the all-new Skoda Octavia Scout will be much more practical than the donor car and looks like a perfect family car. Compared to the fourth-gen Octavia, the Scout version will feature the same design as the sedan, up to the B-pillar.

Moving towards the back, instead of the sloping roof offered with the sedan, the roof of the estate is further stretched to the tailgate. Thus offering extra headroom to the rear seat passengers. The rear styling of the car also looks quite similar to that of the regular Octavia as the Scout trim comes fitted with the same angular LED taillights. The new fourth-gen Scout is 4,703 mm long, and the carmaker claims that it’s the longest Scout model ever made. Moreover, no other Scout model can match the fourth-gen model’s 640-litre luggage space. The height of the new-gen Skoda Scout has been raised by 15 mm to help it tackle some uneven terrains.

It’s for the very first time that the carmaker is offering the Scout with an FWD configuration. The AWD configuration is expected to be offered as an option. The AWD model will be offered with a 2.0-litre TDI oil-burner, which puts out 115bhp of power, as well as the 1.5-litre turbo petrol TSI unit that produces 150bhp of peak power. Both the engine options come paired with 6-speed MT. Furthermore, a 1.5-litre TSI e-TEC mill will also be offered with the FWD model. Transmission duties will be done by a 7-speed DSG.
