The newly-added connected car tech comes standard on the Polo GT TSI and Vento Highline Plus variants with free 3 years of subscription and warranty.
Volkswagen India recently introduces “My Volkswagen Connect” which is basically a SIM-based app offering a host of convenience and safety features for buyers of the VW Polo TSI and Vento Highline Plus in India. VW’s new connected car tech can record, store and analyses the vehicular data.
Currently, VW India doesn’t have many vehicles in its product portfolio and the “My Volkswagen Connect” is offered on the top-spec variants of the Polo and Vento merely. The Polo GT TSI and Vento Highline Plus buyers can have this system as standard fitment on their vehicles. With My Volkswagen Connect, customers will now be able to keep track of the vehicle’s whereabouts, learn more about driving styles like speed, braking behaviours, acceleration, coolant temperature, etc., set up a geofence as well as reach out to the customer care or RSA in case of emergencies.
Also, the customers can enjoy the convenience of paperless experience by scanning, uploading the important vehicular documents in the app. Setting the reminders for the renewal of insurance and receiving OTA software updates are some other hassle-free features they can avail.
To get access to the connected features, buyers should plug a dongle into the OBD port of the vehicle, then download the “My Volkswagen Connect” app to their smartphone from App Store or Google Play. Do keep in mind that this new My Volkswagen Connect app bears a huge difference from the previously-introduced connect app. The new system makes use of an e-SIM to gather the vehicular data while the older version uses Bluetooth. That means that you can remotely access to the features with the new version. It’s worth noting that the feature is available with free 3 years of subscription and 3 years of warranty.
Commenting on the My Volkswagen Connect app, Mr Steffen Knapp, Volkswagen Passenger Car India’s Director said,
“At Volkswagen India, we have relentlessly been working towards enhancing and providing our customers the best of technology and connected solutions. Today, we introduced the upgraded ‘My Volkswagen Connect’ app that offers customer convenience and safety at their fingertips. Customers will have access to real-time vehicle analysis and assistance that would make them aware of their vehicle condition, driving patterns and enhance the overall fun-to-drive experience that a Volkswagen stands for.”
As for VW cars in India, the automotive giant is currently selling the VW Polo, Vento, T-Roc and the Tiguan AllSpace in our country. The company is set to bring in the VW Taigun next year to hog the limelight from the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others in the mid-size SUVs segment.
