Volkswagen Tiguan debuted at the global market back in 2016 in two versions – a normal and a long wheelbase version. In India, only the regular Tiguan was launched in 2017 and ever since there was a rumour about the entrance of longer Tiguan Allspace to our market. And now, India-spec Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is finally confirmed.

The second gen Tiguan measures at 4,486 mm in length while the global Tiguan Allspace sports the length of 4,712 mm, which is 215 mm longer than the former. The wheelbase of Tiguan Allspace is 110 mm longer. With greater length and wheelbase, the Allspace could accommodate larger seating capacity with three rows.

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is the longer version of the standard Volkswagen Tiguan

The Tiguan Allspace is expected to share the same engine as the standard model. The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel that makes 141 bhp of power and 340 Nm of torque will be carried forward to the extended wheelbase model.

On the feature front, the Tiguan Allspace is packed with the Composition Color Media System and Connectivity Package. It also has multifunction steering wheels, variable cargo storage floor. On the top-spec Discover Pro, it even comes with a large 9.2-inch touchscreen with gesture control feature.

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace might replace the standard version or become a new variant of the Tiguan range

Previously, the Tiguan is positioned as a premium offer at the starting price of 28 lakh. Nevertheless, this model fails to impress as a feature-rich and upmarket option as its price tag might suggest. The launch of the long-wheelbase Tiguan will cause some changes in the pricing strategy or even put an end to the regular Tiguan. In other words, the Tiguan Allspace might replace the current slow-selling Tiguan, if not, they will co-exist under the Tiguan nameplate and changes in price are expected. When the Allspace is launched in India, it will compete against the Skoda Kodiaq.
