2020 Mahindra Thar Gets Perfect Grille Replacement Courtesy Azad 4x4 - VIDEO

The all-new Mahindra Thar was finally launched a few months back and to say that it has been a success for the brand will be a massive understatement. It has over 20,000 bookings in place already and waiting periods have stretched to over 9 months now. If you have got a new Thar currently then you’re one of the lucky ones as Mahindra has stopped taking bookings as well. The new Thar is the much-awaited successor to the first-generation Thar which has become a beloved legend among enthusiasts and the off-roading community. It aims to be just as good off-road as the old one, but also bring in much-needed improvements when it's on-road. We came across this video which shows some tasteful upgrades for the new Thar. 

The video has been uploaded by Azad 4x4 on YouTube and it shows the new Mahindra Thar getting a modified front end. The old Thar had a varied and extensive aftermarket, with a myriad of options you can do to your Thar. Azad 4x4 is one of the most experienced and well-known brands when it comes to aftermarket accessories/modifications for the Thar and it has got some new products for the new Thar you should take a look into. The grille for the new Thar has been a point of contention between enthusiasts as it doesn’t resemble the classic Jeep look. But you cannot blame Mahindra either as putting one would have resulted in copyright infringement issues with JEEP. So the Indian automaker attached a very bland and simple grille to the new Thar, knowing that it’ll be the first thing to be replaced.

Azad 4x4 has come up with this grille and replacement which looks just right on the new Mahindra Thar. In comes the classic 7-slat Jeep grille and a bigger, tougher bumper which gives the already imposing 4x4 an even burlier look. The grille fits flush and is a direct replacement without any extra modifications needed. The bumper gets tow hooks and a cutout in the middle for the winch while two big LED fog lamps are fitted on top of it as well. The factory headlamps have been replaced with LED projectors which also gets inbuilt LED DRLs. Overall the modifications look like what the Thar should have been straight out of the factory and completes the look of the 4x4. 

Prices for the 2020 Mahindra Thar start from Rs 9.80 lakh and go up to Rs 13.75 lakh. You can choose between 2 engine options, a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, and a 2-litre turbo-petrol. The oil-burner makes 130 PS/320 Nm of peak power and torque figures while the petrol makes 150 PS/320 Nm of max power and torque. You get two transmission options for both the powertrains, A 6-speed manual, and a 6-speed automatic. The new-gen Thar also comes with a low-range gearbox and a transfer case along with a mechanically-locking rear differential, which should make it as good as its beloved predecessor off-road.
