Hyundai AX1 is all-set to join the South-Korean carmaker's line-up by the end of this year. In case you are wondering, how the Hyundai AX1 will look like, here's digital rendering to help you out.

Hyundai has launched a slew of new product in the Indian market in the last year. The situation is quite the same in the international markets as well. With updated models on sale for almost all of its product, the South-Korean carmaker is now working on a new project – AX1 micro-SUV. The upcoming Hyundai AX1 micro-SUV is expected to be unveiled by the end of this year. Once launched, it will rival the likes of Maruti Ignis and upcoming Tata HBX. The AX1 has been spotted on test quite a few times by now but in a heavily camo’ed avatar. However, it still managed to shed a lot of design cues. Based on which, our in-house rendering specialist – Shoeb R. Kalania has created a digital rendering of the production-spec Hyundai AX1.

In the rendering, the AX1 looks boxy just like the test mules that have been spotted to date. Interestingly, the boxy and upright silhouette will help the designer in carving out more space on the inside. Other design highlights include nice-looking dual-tone alloy wheels that are placed in the squared wheel arches. Also, it gets black cladding that runs across its length. There are roof rails on the top, which are expected to be functional in the case of the production-spec model. Moreover, the B-pillars aren’t blacked-out here. They are body-coloured, instead, as was the case with the prototypes. Somehow, this seems to be inspired by old Skoda cars. The rear door handles are mounted on the C-pillars in the above rendering. It will be another quirky design element on the production-spec AX1.

The Hyundai AX1 will be underpinned by the same K1 platform that supports the Santro. With vertically-split headlamps on the front, the AX1 will come with a high-set bonnet. It will come with the 1.2L Kappa petrol motor that puts out 83 PS of peak power and 113 Nm of max torque. It is likely to miss out on the 1.0L turbo-petrol motor that can develop a peak power output of 120 PS and max torque of 172 Nm. The gearbox options on the AX1 will include a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT. With a speculated starting price of Rs. 5.5 lakh, the AX1 is expected to make its market debut by the end of this year.
