Here’s a drag race between Maruti Swift and Hyundai Elite i20 and the results are quite surprising. Check out the video embedded below to know more.

Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Swift are the two of the most popular hatchbacks in the Indian market. While the Maruti Swift is a B1-segment hatchback, and the Hyundai Elite i20, which is a B2-segment model, is marginally bigger and a little more premium. If we compare the top-spec trims of both the models, the Hyundai Elite i20 is more expensive by at least a lakh rupees. After VW Polo, both the cars are among the top 5 sportiest hatchbacks of India. If you are confused between both the cars and want to compare them in terms of acceleration, power and overall performance, check out the drag race video embedded below. Both the cars in this drag race are petrol-powered models coupled with a manual transmission and a 1.2-litre petrol engine.

This drag race video has been uploaded by a YouTube channel Dream Cars. The drag race was conducted in two different rounds. In the first race, Maruti Swift takes the lead a bit late showing the neck-to-neck competition between both the hatchbacks. The Hyundai Elite i20 wins the first race, but the distance between both the cars was not that much.

In the second round, the Elite i20 again won the race in a similar way. Both the hatchbacks had a very close competition. Moreover, we would say that in this race, we had no clear winner because this race was conducted on a national highway and one can see a lot of cars and trucks passing by, so the drivers were not able to check the capabilities of both the cars properly.

The Maruti Swift is powered by a 1.2-litre, four-pot gasoline engine, which puts out power and torque outputs of 83 PS and 113 Nm. On the other hand, Hyundai Elite i20 is propelled by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 83 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. While it's definitely interesting to see the two hatchbacks lock horns with each other in a drag race, we totally condemn racing on a public street as the activity can easily result into a mishap.
